Hosting & Support

It’s what keeps your site running behind the scenes

What is hosting?

When I have built your website it will be hosted by me on my secure server, so that once live I can update your site and carry out any maintenance and keeping all of your internet processes in one neat package.

If you are unsure what ‘hosting’ means, it is simply all of the content of your website being stored in a rented space on a secure data storing server. This server is the place where all of the images, text and data is held so that your site is available for people to access on the internet.

An easy way to think of this is that the domain name of your website is your home address, the hosting is the rental of the house, and your email is the mail box.

Hosting of your website is included in your web package for the first year, and then it is £30 per year going forward.

Monthly support package

Once your site is live you can choose to take out a monthly support package. This is not mandatory, but a lot of customers find it helpful.

What the monthly support package includes:

Regular updates – I’ll update the system to make sure your site runs as smoothly as possible

Tech support – If something isn’t working as it should I can help fix the problem

Content updates – 1 hour a month of design time* or minor content updates e.g replacing images, text or changing the fields of your contact form.

Security checks – Running checks on your site to make sure your data is secure

The monthly support package is £30 a month billed on a monthly basis

Optional extra

SEO reports – I’ll complete an SEO audit of your site and provide you with a short, easy to understand report. It will update you on any areas where tweaking your site content could improve your SEO and tips on how to go about it.  Available every 6 months for £30 a report

*Design time for site related design only. Logos, socials and other design services provided by Xylem are not included.

FAQ

Do I need hosting?

Do I have to host my site with you?

Hosting is included as part of your web package for the first year if you have a site designed with me. If you would prefer to have it hosted elsewhere then just let me know and I’ll action that for you.

Can you host my own site?

Yes of course. I can host your website on my secure server, even if you don’t have a website designed and built by me.

It is £10 a month on a rolling basis, or £100 for a year if you pay annually.

Is the website secure

The hosted server offers the following

  • Server and infrastructure security configuration
  • 24/7 server monitoring.

  • Firewall protection.

  • Anti-malware protection on endpoints and servers.

Do I need to have the support package?

Not at all, but most customers do as it offers a piece of mind knowing that you have quick access to tech support and site updates.

It is £30 per month and means that your site will get all of the updates and tech support it needs to run smoothly – but if you prefer you can simply log a task via the contact form if you require assistance.

Tasks requested outside of the support package are charged on a per task basis.

How much is the support package

The support package which includes regular site updates, security checks, SEO briefings and minor content changes is £30 per month billed on the 28th for the month ahead in advance.

You can cancel at any time, and then if you need support you can log a task via the form on the contact page.

What happens if I don’t use the support package

You don’t have to use the support package, but most customers do find it useful.

It’s fine if you choose not to. All you need to do if you need support with your site is to log a task via the form on the contact page. Each task or service are charged on a per job basis.
