A little more about me

Hi, I’m Alan. I’ve worked as a web designer for almost two decades now, designing everything from logos and small landing pages for local businesses, all the way up to large recruitment sites for multi-national clients.

I started out as a Technical Illustrator – you know in a car manual where the images of an engine are blown apart so that you can see every piece in perfect scale? I drew that.

It wasn’t all that ‘creative’ though – so in 2007 I moved to the Midlands and changed career to become a web designer. This was much better! I could bring a client’s ideas to life as fully functioning designs and in full colour
( there isn’t all that much colour in Technical Illustration)

Fast forward nearly 20 years to 2026 and many, many designs later, I decided to take the leap into being my own boss and became a freelance designer. I wanted to choose who I worked for, to have more of a connection with the project, and if I am honest, make a little personal stand against the growing dominance of Ai in graphic and web design.

If I’m not here at the computer bringing your vision to life, then you will find me outdoors enjoying the countryside with my family or riding one of my vintage push bikes. If the weather is truly awful, I’ll settle down for some drawing and painting or retro gaming.
